Author Instructions

 

Scientific English contributions of the article types Original articles, Case reports and Poster Journal can be submitted for peer review to Debates on Bladder Cancer. Review articles, conference reports or presentations and commentaries on scientific advances as published in other journals (Uroscope) are accepted for peer review only by invitation of the Editorial Board.

Original articles/ Review articles

Original articles have a 3,000 word limit. Review articles have a 5,000 word limit (excluding references). Articles must be divided into the sections Background, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions. The number of authors and references is not limited. Every article must be preceded by an Abstract section. The Abstract cannot be longer than 300 words and must be sectioned in the same way as the main manuscript.

Manuscript format:

-         Title page must contain title of the article, full names and institutions of all authors as well as full name and contact details (institution, postal address, telephone number, e-mail)of one corresponding author.

-         Abstract with three to five Key words, word count of the whole manuscript (excluding references and appendices) and word count of the Abstract alone

-         Manuscript with sections as named above

-         Acknowledgements naming persons who contributed to the article without having author status

-         Conflict of interest

-         Tables and/ or Figures (without limit)

-         Number of References is not limited. This section must be in the Vancouver style of referencing as shown below.

 

 

Case reports

 

Case reports have a 1,500 word limit (excluding references) and must be sectioned into Background, Case Presentation and Discussion. The number of authors and references is not limited. Every article must be preceded by an Abstract section. The Abstract cannot be longer than 200 words and must be sectioned in the same way as the main manuscript.

Poster Journal

 

Articles for the Poster Journal in Debates on Bladder Cancer are short outlines based on posters presenting scientific research on bladder cancer as shown at medical conferences. In order to promote young scientists, contributions that are based on award-winning posters are accepted without being peer reviewed. Award winning must be certified and the original poster must be submitted. The article has a 1,200 word limit (excluding references) and must be sectioned into Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusions. Number of authors (10) and references (15) is limited. Every article must be preceded by an Abstract. This section cannot be longer than 150 words and must be sectioned in the same way as the main manuscript.

-         Title page must contain title of the article, full names and institutions of all authors as well as full name and contact details (institution, postal address, telephone number, e-mail) of one corresponding author.

-         Abstract with three to five Key words, word count of the whole manuscript (excluding references and appendices) and word count of the Abstract alone

-         Limited number of Tables (2) and/ or Figures (2)

Conference reports

 

Articles in this section provide significant research results on bladder cancer as presented at current conferences and symposia. Articles are written by invitation of the Editorial Board. Manuscript length and format are not limited. Every article must be preceded by an Abstract

-         Title page must contain title of the article, full names and institutions of all authors as well as full name and contact details (institution, postal address, telephone number, e-mail) of one corresponding author.

-         Abstract with three to five Key words, name of conference/ symposium

-         Manuscript

-         Acknowledgements naming persons who contributed to the article without having author status

-         Conflict of interest

-         Tables and/ or Figures (without limit)

-         Details about conference contributions must be quoted as shown below.

 

 

Uroscope

 

The aim of the Uroscope section in Debates on Bladder Cancer is to approach recent advances in bladder cancer. This is achieved for example by presenting new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches or by presentations and commentaries of experts on scientific research on bladder cancer by invitation of the Editorial Board. Articles must be sectioned into Background, Study Procedure Presentation, Discussion and Comment. Number of authors (4) and references (10) is limited. Every article must be preceded by an Abstract. The Abstract section cannot be longer than 150 words but does not need to be sectioned.

 

Manuscript format:

 

-         Title page must contain title of the article, full names and institutions of all authors as well as full name and contact details (institution, postal address, telephone number, e-mail) of one corresponding author.

-         Abstract with three to five Key words, title of article and journal commented on, or term (or trade name, if applicable) for the procedure presented

-         Manuscript with sections as named above

-         Acknowledgements naming persons who contributed to the article without having author status.

-         Conflict of interest

-         Limited number of Tables (2) and/ or Figures (2)

-         Limited number of References (10) must be in the Vancouver style of referencing as shown below.

 

 

Tables and Figures

 

Tables and Figures should contain significant information about the topic that is not yet given in the text. Arabic numerals must be used. Tables must be appended to the manuscript. Figures should be sent in high quality and in separate files (.jpg, .tif or .pdf). Tables should be captioned in the manuscript; captions of figures should appear at the end of the manuscript preceding the list of references.

 

 

References

 

References must be cited in the text using Arabic numerals put in square brackets. They must be listed in the appendix in the same order as they appear in the text. Articles must be in the Vancouver style (see below); corresponding journals must be cited following the Index medicus. Up to six authors may be cited in full. If there are seven and more authors, three are named in full and et al is added.

Accepted articles are published immediately after the pdf-file is created and checked by the authors. Condition for publication is that the corresponding author (on behalf of all of the authors) gives written and signed consent to permit the publisher of Debates on Bladder Cancer, all rights to publish the manuscript online and in all other forms of media. Scientific content stays in the ownerships of the authors.

 

Process costs

For every published article that was submitted without invitation by the Editorial Board, Debates on Bladder Cancer charges process costs of 300 Euro.
